The Conservation of Positive Energy

It seems to me that grey, gloomy, or rainy days get a bad rap. Much worse than they deserve. From what I can see (anecdotally), a far greater number of people prefer warm, sunny days with mild breezes and blues skies. Well, I've finally found a way to take advantage of the rainy day's lack of popularity, and now I'm here to share it with you. Yes, once again, I'm prepared to pontificate on the merits of a theory which you have never encountered before, but, having encountered you will find your life changed forever. As big a discovery as The Happy Fat Diet, not nearly so absurd as My Father's Words to Me, more incisive than the theory that Ketchup is Philosophically Unsound...it's the Theory of

The Conservation of Positive Energy

Simply stated, it is this:
Positive Energy (PE), which is the basic
building block of such emotions as happiness,
joy, excitement, contentment, et al, is
finite. While PE is not a constant, its value
changes so little as to make it seem so.

If one accepts this premise (which I do), then it can be argued that there is no more joy to be had on a sunny day than there is on a gloomy one. Indeed, since the demand for PE, which is finite, increases when the weather improves, it is theoretically possible for one to be deprived of his maximum PE potential, thwarted by others just as eager to maximize their Positive Energy consumption! You can see where I'm going with this one, I think. Since there is less consumption of PE on overcast, spizzly, or otherwise less than ideal days, then that means there is MORE FOR ME on those occassions. It is, in fact more possible, within the bounds of this theory, to have one hell of a good time (on the PE scale from suicidal to utter bliss) on such a day. Of course, now that more people are aware of my theory, this may begin to change. But as my theories often fail to be accepted into mainstream thought, it will be a long time (centuries after my death, no doubt) before enough people realize the brilliance of this idea enough to truly affect the per capita PE consumption. For those of you willing enough to examine this theory, please log your tests carefully, and forward the results to me here, where I can correlate the results and post them to further bolster the cause....
